Development of four‐terminal DC circuit breaker based on commutating path multiplexing

Multi-terminal flexible DC power grid plays an important role in large-scale new energy integration, which usually requires the installation of multi-terminal circuit breaker (MTCB) at intersection multiple lines. At present, research on is mostly limited to theoretical simulation calculation, and there are few experimental studies engineering applications. In this paper, a four-terminal based commutating path multiplexing proposed, combines with compact natural commutation scheme hybrid gap, greatly reducing cost volume breaker. The characteristics equivalent prototype 10-kV voltage level were tested. On basis, test results shows that under level, topology can achieve breaking 11 kA 2.8 ms by method.
